Set your sights on an exciting career as a BMW Motorrad Service Technician. If you’ve got the ambition and desire to become a technician on the world’s most advanced motorcycles, we’ll supply the ultimate education…with BMW’s distinctive Service Technician Education Programs (STEP) for BMW motorcycles.

A BMW Motorrad STEP student will graduate from the program as a Level 2+ technician. This means that the technician will have completed all training to meet Level 2 status, plus some of our Level 3 courses. (Level 3 being the highest level of training BMW Motorrad currently offers).

The Motorrad STEP program runs between 8 – 10 weeks depending on new model launches.

The Motorrad STEP program is free to all students, provided a job is obtained within 3 months after graduation. Students are responsible for housing, food and program entry drug screen costs.

The current program is designed as a “finishing” school for those students that have attended the MMI/BMW Motorrad Elective Program.

An applicant must meet the following criteria to be accepted into the program:

  • 3.0 GPA or better
  • Good references
  • A clean driving record
  • Pass an entrance interview with an official of BMW of North America, LLC
  • 95-percent attendance rate while attending the MMI BMW Certified Technician Program

The key for success in the program is in being prepared—socially, academically, emotionally and financially.

The Motorrad STEP class is held at BMW of North America Headquarters in Woodcliff Lake, NJ.
