ABOUT BYI
The BMW Youth Initiative (BYI) is in conjunction with our partners at the ASE Education Foundation. BYI is the next step for BMW and its support of youth and automotive careers at the dealer level.
BYI is giving the dealers the tools they need to be successful in building partnerships with local schools to attract youth to the BMW brand and the dealership for technician jobs. Remember by supporting your local schools, you help solve the technician shortage and increase retention.
Everyone wins!
Why consider BYI
The challenge
BMW Dealerships are faced with a shortage of Technicians. Baby boomers are retiring and there is increased competition for the best young people when it comes to skilled trade careers.
Solution
While there are many solutions for dealerships to explore, one solution is in your local area. Partner with your local schools that offer automotive technology programs. While it can take time to develop a partnership, it gives you the opportunity to nurture young technicians who can grow with you.
Did you know
There are students right now who are taking automotive training classes at your local high school or college. And the good news is that the school provides them with the fundamental training they need to get started. Schools want to provide well-trained entry-level technicians, but they need your help and input to be successful and meet your employment needs. Schools need partners from industry to provide advice and guidance, demonstrate career opportunities for their students, and help those students get the hands-on experience that will grow their skills and encourage them to stick with an automotive career.
BMW Support
BMW of North America and BMW Group University are here to support high schools and our dealerships to promote an interest in a career at BMW.
