Application Requirements for BMW STEP

Amazing Opportunities Ahead.
BMW STEP offers the ultimate training programs for motivated service technicians. These programs open the door to a promising future with the leading retailer of luxury cars and motorcycles in the United States.
Qualifications to be considered for the BMW Automotive and MINI STEP programs
- Valid driver’s license acceptable to BMW standards
- Completion of a post-secondary automotive program
- A minimum 3.0 GPA at a post-secondary school
- Student Work Portfolio Required – This new requirement will take effect on 9/30/20
- Students applying to STEP will now need to submit a document and pictures (Word or PDF) of work they have performed demonstrating hand skills. The work performed can be from:
- Work at an automotive repair shop (Tire store, garage, national chain)
- Repairs or work they have done on their own car or family and friend cars
- Work they have performed as part of their lessons in a post-secondary program
- Home projects (home repairs, outdoor equipment repairs and maintenance, etc…)
- Craft projects that involve the use of tools either hand, power or both
- Students applying to STEP will now need to submit a document and pictures (Word or PDF) of work they have performed demonstrating hand skills. The work performed can be from:
- 95% attendance rate or better at a post-secondary school
- Willingness and ability to accept a position at a BMW Dealership
- Ability to support oneself during the training program process
- Willingness to relocate if necessary
- Drug screening
- Background check
Qualifications to be considered for the BMW Motorrad STEP program
- 3.0 GPA or better
- Good references
- A clean driving record
- Pass an entrance interview with an official of BMW of North America, LLC
- 95% attendance rate while attending the MMI BMW Certified Technician Program
Qualifications to be considered for the Level 1 BMW Body and Paint STEP program
- Have a valid driver’s license acceptable to BMW standards
- A minimum 3.0 GPA
- 95% attendance rate
- Drug screening
- Background check
- Graduate from an automotive technical college, high school automotive collision repair program, or be currently employed as an entry-level Body and Paint technician at a BMW Certified Collision Repair Center
